Important update: Alert Regarding Leap Second Adjustment
An adjustment of +1 second is scheduled for 30 June 2015 23:59 UTC. Talari Appliances configured as Network Time Protocol (NTP) clients will receive an NTP packet with a leap second flag on the day of adjustment which is processed at the operating system level. Talari Appliances running old versions of Talari OS (3.06 or 4.0) that sync with an NTP server will become unresponsive after 30 June 2015 23:59 UTC due to the adjustment.
Talari Appliances running the following levels of Talari OS that are configured to act as NTP clients will be affected by the adjustment:
- Talari OS 4.0 (based on Linux Kernel 3.2.21)
- Talari OS 3.06 (based on Linux Kernel 2.6.26)
Talari Appliances running the following levels of Talari OS will not be affected by the adjustment:
- Talari OS 4.4 (based on Linux Kernel 3.2.57)
- Talari OS 4.3 (based on Linux Kernel 3.2.57)
- Talari OS 4.2 (based on Linux Kernel 3.2.57)
- Talari OS 4.1 (based on Linux Kernel 3.2.46)
To avoid impact, please take one of the following steps:
- Ensure all Talari Appliances in your network are running at least Talari OS 4.1. Note that Talari OS 4.1 is only supported
on APN R3.0 P2 and later versions so if you are running an earlier version you will need to upgrade APN in addition to the OS.
or
- Disable NTP on your Talari Appliances before 30 June 2015 23:59 UTC and re-enable after
To check which Talari OS is actively running on your Talari Appliances:
- Talari Appliance: Manage Appliance -> OS Partitions -> OS Partition Versions
