Palo Alto Networks have recently issued a Customer Advisory to resolve the resource exhaustion and session discard issues observed on PA-3000 series devices that were running content version 578.
With Application and Threat Content version 579, Palo Alto Networks has applied changes that resolve resource exhaustion and session discard issues observed on PA-3000 series devices that were running content version 578. After installing this update, a dataplane restart may be required on PA-3000 series devices that had previously installed content version 578, to clear out any residual traces.
Firewalls deployed with high-availability should experience minimal network impact as a result of restarting the dataplane. Palo Alto Networks recommends that the dataplane be restarted on these devices after content version 579 has been installed, an administrator can issue the command:
"request restart dataplane"
on the CLI to trigger a dataplane restart.
